Every year my american highbush cranberry viburnum and arrowood are infested with something apparently called a european beetle which actually looks like a worm on the plant (I guess this is the larvae). It eats my plants to shreds.
Other years I have treated with diazanon and some other stuff the nursery recommended in dire situations. I am reluctant to keep putting this type of chemical in my garden.
Does anyone out there have any experience in a zone 5 garden (ontario) with eradicating this problem. My next step is going to be to dig them out and replace with something else.
any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Also, last year I followed the instruction given for lasagne gardens on this forum. It appears to have worked! I'm going to use it on the front lawn when the time comes. My back thanks you! I wish I could remember the name of the poster who helped. Molly perhaps?
