My husband is going to try to install vinyl flooring (he`s no handyman although he liskes to think he is!!) in our entrance and on the three steps going from the entrance to the kitchen. The vinyl is in dark eathy tones and resembles slate. My problem is that I want wooden nosing because I find it looks so much better than then metal or rubber nosing but wooden nosing is made to be used with ceramic or floating floor only... Has anyone ever used wooden nosing with vinyl-covered stairs? Can this be bought or can it be made?

I had thought of that but was afraid that the paint would chip... I think my best alternative would be to use the rubber nosing which does come in a variety of colours. That is our plan B though because my husband is confident that he can figure something out for the wood nosing. Will let you know how it turns out! ;)
Hi luv2style. I think that the reason that wood stair nosing is not used in this application is because it is much thicker than the vinyl flooing and wouldn't look right or feel right to step on. Have you considered using the metal stair nosing and painting it in a colour to match the vinyl flooring?
