Wallpaper Art

Hi! In the December issue of H&H there is a DIY project that involves covering large MDF panels with wallpaper to decorate a wall in a dining room. I am planning to try this out and I have bought the MDF panels, but they are soooooo heavy, I'm wondering if anyone out there could recommend another type of panel I could buy that would not be so heavy! I am not sure my walls can handle so much weight! Or rather I don't know if I'll be able to hang them properly! The article calls for metal hooks from Lee Valley - I need more info.

Thanks to anyone who has any clues on what I could use as a replacement for the MDF, that will still allow the wallpaper to adhere.
