I have a sage green paint color with white cabinets and new vinyl flooring that has a lot of green undertones as well. Now i am thinking i need window coverings in a totally different color to differentiate and create some definition in my kitchen. I have attached a link where you can view my colors.......don't mind the mess cause we are in the middle of renovating. I was thinking about something with a rusty red color window treatment.........but i am not really sure what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just threw up a bit of material in a terracotta color to see the contrast. I Don't really like the terracotta color but maybe something in reddish
Thank you
Marg

Wow.........thank you Claursen, i just checked out that link for the shades and i know i have seen those kits before to make them. I have quite a few windows to dress now and i think i will try my hand at this. I have been interested in sewing now for a while and even went to Walmart today and bought a new Brother CE-5000 computerized sewing machine. It is wonderful.....i had to hem a pair of jeans and it was perfect. Now i have the main tool to sew and make anything. My husband is going to go nuts now lol
Tnx
Marg
I have attached a link for a website for design ideas.

Roman blinds are VERY EASY to make. Here is Martha Stewarts Instructions. You can probably find roman blinds Kits at your sewing store.

Hi claursen..........and thanx to all of you who commented on my post. I do need a lot of help. I did go out today and buy 10 metres of the middle fabric (i was told by fabricville that that is how much i needed to get the fullness, etc).......however, if i do have any left over i will attempt as well to make placemats or something. I have pre-washed the fabric and folded it to lay over my island to dry overnight. I must say that it washed very very well. Now i have never.........and i mean never sewed before. I did buy a pattern for valance and tier sets but it is all FRENCH to my LOL. Roman shade sounds very nice actually, but i would never know how to do that. I do like the country kitchen theme. With the lacey curtains i have now they are just rod woven through the openings ..............you can usually buy this lacey fabric in material stores precut to go right on window in 24" or 36" lengths for your panels and different sizes as well for the valances but i could not get what i wanted in that material. I initially just wanted to make a valance and 2 panels that could close or open.
Thx
Marg
they are all nice, my favortie is the middle. I think a roman shade would look great and give a modern country feel.
I think the middle fabric is nice, but it gives a countryish feel because it is plaid. Is that the idea for your kitchen? I kind of like the right one. It contrasts nicely with the green wall (which I love by the way). As roman shades they would add a hit of colour.
I like the middle fabric (the plaid) if I had to choose of the three. What about a fabric that has more colours in it with one of them being the green colour. Maybe floral? You might want to wait until everything is completed in the kitchen though before making a decision. You might have a different eye on things once the floor is down and the mess is cleaned up.
Ok so i just got back from fabric shopping and came across some fabrics that i think would look nice with the kitchen colors we have. I am leaning toward the middle swatch......... not too green and what green is there goes nice, but the red color stands out against the green wall. Please let me know what you think. Link below to view swatches.
Thanx
