I think now maybe time to heed the words of your fellow forum users, remembering why we're all here in the first place.
Decor, Design, companionship and fun!
As stated in our forum policy, it is incredibly important to have a more open understanding of how people have reacted, phrased and posed their opinions/comments, many have already mentioned we do not have the added bonus of tone, body language and facial expression to help us determine intent and sincerity with other peoples words.
To quote - http://www.canadianhouseandhome.com/fmPol.php?content=101933
Always remember when posting: if there's a chance someone may misunderstand or misconstrue your intended meaning, then someone inevitably will. Be careful - posting a text-based message loses all of the nuances of voice and face-to-face communication. People may not understand sarcasm and dry wit the way you intended.
I think one of the important notes to take on board here is, let's not assume anything about anyone - obviously members join here with a specific purpose in mind, if they are here to spam or cause trouble, then let the Forum administration team handle that - that's why we're here, anything else is for your enjoyment - Decorating, Design, Food, Entertaining and our lovely pets.
Let it not be forgotten that everyone is welcome at our forum so long as they abide by our policy - with the exceptions of those who have been banned prior.
Whatever has happened in the past has already happened, bringing up year-old issues and arguments only serves as a detriment to the forum and everyone who uses it - I can't possibly see how anyone would think this is a positive and/or good idea.
We should keep in mind that when we hit that "Submit Reply" button, that the whole forum can read that message, as well as anybody on the entire Internet. It may seem appropriate at the time, however, I think we have once again lost our way to what everyone comes here for.
Needless to say, this thread is now locked.
Now that's all said and done, I hope we can all understand and learn from what has happened here. Back to the fun!
Condogirl, you couldn't be more wrong. If I was a "bird groupie" I would have posted long, long ago. But it is just like you to jump down newcomers throats. The way you attacked Mrs. Fancy, just made me mad. Sounded like an innocent post to me. And I wouldn't expect someone of your caliber to apoligize. Didn't realize you could hear "tone" in computer lingo. That is part of the problem. So back off a little. I know you have your supporters that come to your defense, but this time you are acting childish and running off new members. Think before you type. I still think you owe a few members an apology. You assume way too much!
Ok lets first address you Yellowpup... Nice first post ...I find it odd that you have never managed to post before but pick now to do it, this just confirms to me that you must be one of the fat birds groupies. I don't owe anyone an apology... If I did I would be the first to admit it. But all I have said is what I think/feel and that is something I will never apologies for.
Now on to you Mrs. Fancy....
You seem bossy like on Janetc's thread about drapes... No one else starts a post like this...
Here's a plan:
1.forget about long drapes.
2.remove old blinds and replace with fabric Roman shades to keep privacy and provide a sunscreen (color can be several shades lighter than your walls)
3. for decorative purpose and if you still want to keep the rod add valance on the top or scarf (color can be contrasting to shades or the same as shades).
Really its like you are demanding she does it. Sounds just like someone who used to be around here... WHO WAS BANNED
Maybe if you changed your tone I wouldn't think you were her.
Mrs. Fancy or what ever your name is... New comers are welcome old members who have been BANNED for good reasons are not welcome to come back hence the reason they are BANNED MEMBERS... :biglol: And since you seem to have a way of irritating people in the same way as the big fat red bird... I am going to assume you are her or maybe one of her groupies ... that have all become clones of her, must be fun to be brainwashed and not have to think for your self anymore.
?????????
where was irritation?
I will continue to read your posts and gather ideas. If I feel I can contribute I will. Good luck with your decorating. I know how frustrating it can be. Sorry to charge in a like a bull, but sometimes the underdogs need someone to step up to the plate for them. I apoligize.
now this is my very last post..... would you care to join us for some fun and i do welcome you aboard.........my living room really needs some serious help :D

Couldn't agree more.
Let's get back to decorating, shall we?? :)

i don't care...no worries Janet...i am afterall one of the 15 owners here....ROTFLMAO!!!
will be my last post on this thread....for one i do aplogize to you yellowpup because I shouldnt assume anything, perhaps you are someone that has been reading for a long time....i do think that this all needs to end and we can all get back to what this board is actually suppose to be used for. Sorry jenjen that your thread has taken a tail spin and gone into a direction that it shouldnt have. I think its time to just let things go and move on. Anger will only consume us!

No I am not confusing you with anyone else. I am just tired about new members that post having to prove themselves. At times you sound like a bunch of school children. You are right on one thought, same old, same old.
im sorry you must have me mixed up with someone else....im not a bully and have not made any rude comments to any NEW members that im aware of.....very rarely, since i have belonged on this board have i ever seen new members being pushed around unless members have reason to think they are here under another alias (which does happen)....actually we love to welcome any new honest members. If you have been reading here for a long time then you will understand why some do become cautious.....they were cautious when i first joined and yes i was also accused of being someone else, all of this was due to people claiming to be someone they were not. Just the same ole same ole crap.

Yes Janet, you know best don't you? I will not jump through hoops to qualify who I am. I have been a memeber for many months and have read it all. The Red Heron, the Glas, all of it. Why don't you stop acting like school children and get on with decorating. Yes, it is my first post on this thread. But quite frankly, I have had enough of new members who post, getting slammed. Just so rude. And you say you are not a bully.
i find it hard to believe that a new member or someone that lurks,FIRST post is going to be in a controversary thread. i lurk around and only post once in a while on other decor groups and for that reason i wouldnt even involve myself in a post such as this because in my opinion i wouldnt know enough of the history.
Phil....this is just my opinion but i think this thread needs to be locked down.

Hey Condogirl, I think you owe a few people an apology!! You are very quick to jump down the throats of new members. And members here have shown you nothing but kindness when you needed it the most. I have been a member for many months, never posted. You are acting like a little child. And it is always the same excuse, nasty members in thepast . I for one, looked forward to some fresh members, like Lizz and Steve. Fresh ideas. New Faces. Is it possible for you to have an open mind??? No, you have run them out of town. Nice going!!
Oh my goodness what have you ladies been up to while I was out all day... LOL

Although I think I would lean more towards Truffle Girl -- sounds a bit catchier, don't ya think?? :D Truffle Sister, Truffle Girl..... mmmm, truffles..... and raspberry truffles are ESPECIALLY good!!! :D
Sorry, my brain isn't functioning quite right today. I think it must be spinach-deprived. Don't you hate when that happens?? You miss your daily intake of healthy greens, and all hell breaks loose
Smooch, you are SO smart! You should be on Urban Dictionary. Oh wait, you were! Can I be your big fat sister? Pretty please!
Who would have thought self-proclaimed busy bees would have time for such nonsense when really they should be in court or out wih imaginary clients.
i completey agree with you, but unfortunately that is the problem the past is still going on and it is pretty well known when a member is actually here for the right reasons or the wrong reasons. It really isnt as it appears, the controversary has really nothing to do with anyone being honest about opinions on our decor. I for one and i think most here would prefer the honesty but it must come from a honest person too.... not an alias trying to stir trouble

Are you sure you aren't confusing this forum with another forum?? :D
Everyone with good intentions is welcome here. Nobody is the Queen of this forum -- everyone is equal and everyone's thoughts and opinions and suggestions are valued. If new members feel as if they're being scrutinized and treated coldly -- well, that's the fault of ex-members who like to come back here with new aliases and stir up trouble. We're just being cautious.
Sincerely, the H&H Truffle Sister

Well I for one would like to welcome newcomers!!The more ideas and opinions the better!!!!
I think everyone is being a little bit harsh don't you think. ???I know you had problems in the past etc. But to tell you the truth jumping down peoples throats when they give an honest opinion because they were asked!?
In a way I hate computer blogs ,opinions etc as there is no emotion to it and it can be taken the wrong way easily.
Of course everyone here has different opinions and different ideas of what they like .
I mean I have seen stuff on here I like and do not like and I am sure there is alot of people that do not like my stuff either but you know know what that is OK with me and I do not take it as an insult or attack if someone says something to me.
I just do not like where all these threads are going at all

No...you want to be somewhere else for the smaller groups of people. There ARE forums that only have 5 members you know! I hear only two of them are real, well, three if you count the behinds as well :D
im sorry to hear that you feel this way....however newcomers have always welcomed here and i dont feel that the forum is owned by 15 people.....because of some issues in the past i would say that it has made some people a little cautious which is unfortunate. We have had some alias's from the past that pop in to post only to stir up trouble. So perhaps this was your situation.

Miss Fancy,
I thought this was an open site as well. I came here because I like the magazine and learned of the forum from there. I am interested in interior design and I am taking courses. I thought I could learn a lot. I wrote my concerns to the moderator who assured me House & Home was open to all newcomers The reception I received and from reading posts of the past week has shown all of us wrong.
I received THREE private messages from members advising me that this was a closed site and wishing me luck if I were to choose to stay, this showed me that there are some here who are kind and have the best of decorating intentions. I wish those members good luck. I have forwarded those messages to the moderators.
I will leave the 15 members who post continuously about mundane and vacuous topics to their forum.
An interesting fact:
House and Home Forum
151601 posts and 5328 members = 28 posts per member, yet, when I check the member lists many, many, many members have never posted. You 15 owners seem to scare away a lot of potential contributors.
I have sent a copy of this information to the moderator as well. To the moderator, please delete my membership.
So Mrs. Fancy... Did your site crash? AWWWWW isn't that to bad... :biglol: Oh well I guess the world had enough acid green and condescending tones, I guess there is no more need for your site...
Sorry I didn't know you don't like newcomers.
You should have posted in the beginning that your forum is limited to existing members.
I just felt too optimistic when subscribed to this and naive.
Anyway,
Good luck and good night.
Oh smoodgie, what a good idea about the 2 table runners...I think that would be perfect. Along with some sort of furit in the bowl... it will be perfect.
Very well said, Jeep :clapping:
Everyone here wants newcomers to feel welcome. But there are times when suspicions are raised, and now is one of them. We have a smart, fun, and talented group of people here, and we all get along great. We don't want someone with a grudge to come along stir up trouble.
If you're here with good intentions, then not to worry, If you're a coward hiding behind an alias.... well, everybody will know who you are soon enough....
Oh, and jen..... all the items on your table look nice, but it may be a bit too much going on. I love your red runner -- what about keeping that runner where it is, and getting a seond runner to put across your table in the opposite direction, so they criss-cross?? Then remove the placemats, and maybe put the two vases somewhere else. The suggestions to put pomegranates or other fruits in the dish are good :)
I take all my words back from previous post.
Coffee Branch? hmmm what is that ...
So Mrs. Fancy... Did your site crash? AWWWWW isn't that to bad... :biglol: Oh well I guess the world had enough acid green and condescending tones, I guess there is no more need for your site...
Just today I was thinking about how great would it be to meet you, guys, in person for the Christmas time - some coffee branch? But then I realized that Toronto is not the only city in Canada, and people from other provinces share the same interest on this chat. I joined this 'club' recently and I was pleasantly surprised to see others with curiosity for decoration and be very open to offer their own opinion (and very often it was in stream with mine).
I don't know if I missed something, but so far I feel very optimistic and wish the same for others.
Mrs.. Fancy.....
HMMMM you seem to act so familiar with everyone around here... you would almost think you knew everyone... wonder why that is....
