Hey ladies,
I have 2 weddings coming up..and I need something to wear...cause apparently "jammies" (even nice ones) are not acceptable wedding attire.
I am having a super duper hard time finding something to wear..i wish Stacey and Clinton were here. I don't know how to find things that look good on me...probably due to my "less than perfect" body type..
I am 5 feet tall..have DDD boobs...wide shoulders...horrible upper arms...a bit of a "jelly-belly"...nice legs...and not fat ankles...oh yeah..and NO A$$!!! I guess my shape is kinda an inverted triangle. What the hell do i wear on this triangle to make it look good?? Everything in stores is sleeveless...I've seen these shrug things..but are they passe?? Help me please!!! My favorite colour to buy is black. Big surprise eh??
If any of you has a suggestion..please throw them out for me. I need to look nice cause both of my girls are flowergirls for both weddings...so people will notice me too.
Thanks,
Mel

Oh, this is so much fun, as I can see what I could look like if I lost some weight!! :D
I think that pink suit is cute and flirty actually :D But I am 39!!!! :biglol:  Oh but I do not look it ;) :biglol:
here mel..here you go..oh ...I feel a song coming on ..I got a big butt.... :biglol: :biglol: :biglol:
Let's see you are having a hard time finding anything you like that will fit/suit you....
You like pant suits, how about going to a men's store (no kidding here) and having them arrange a tuxedo type suit for you? Most women don't realize that along with the men's suits, there are also patterns for women in those stores (at least the most have them and they are cheaper than getting a custom fit suit from any ladies' wear stores too). Besides, those of us who don't have butts or curved hips tend to fit men's pants better anyway (at least I sure do).
Probably even formal wear shops have them as women in tux isn't so uncommon. In particular those shops may have something already made that can be tailored for you without it costing you a fortune and a suit like that would be classic enough to wear at other times especially if you got it in navy or cream or some other classic suit colour (I assume black isn't a good idea at a wedding, but maybe it is).
If a tux is good enough for Cher, or Diane Keaton, or madona, among others to wear then why not you? You could even get a longer jacket, have a nice low cut top and look like a million while being comfortable too.
Otherwise, and depending on how formal things are, you might want to check out the slinky type fabric clothes. There is a full range (The Shopping Channel carries them on line by 'Kim & Co' http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/product_results.asp?N=100010+101657&Ne=310000&cm_re=A%2D%5F%2DMftr%2D%5F%2D060601%5F379696&templateCode=ES&departmentId=1657 and 'marallis' http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/product_results.asp?N=100010+101656&Ne=310000&templateCode=ES&departmentId=1656 so you could take a look there if you aren't sure about what I mean). I've seen them at several different stores in various qualities and styles (usually various lengths and fullnesses, pants, long/short skirts & dresses, jackets, vests, tops) so you could try places from Holt's to most of the other chains. You can dress them up or down with your jewelry. They are so comfortable, never wrinkle, and come in some very flowy and elegant pieces. The nice part is they are forgiving when it comes to having body parts that other fabrics don't sit well on.
Is this too old for me?? I am 30... :biglol: :biglol:
Oh, and another question...i see lots of cutey pie little dresses but they are all sleeveless...so can I wear a little cardigan or something?? And is the shrug dead?? I can't do a wrap. its just too much fussing.
I have another question...as mentioned before...I have no hips..and no a$$...I do however have a gut...why is it you can't buy pants to fit such a shape?? Does anyone have any suggestions on a style I should be looking for?? Possibly a boy-cut trouser?? Cause yeah..i don't have a curve to call my own...and in order to get pants that fit in the behind...they are almost cutting the circulation off in my gut!!! Help!!
I'm really no help when it comes to suggesting clothes/outfits. But two things are important -- wear something that you're comfortable in, and wear something that's appropriate for your size and shape. It's fine to be any shape and size -- be proud of who you are!! But downplay the parts that you don't want people to notice and accentuate all your good parts :)
Happy shopping!! :)
:biglol: sure show cleavage if you want but I will warn you NOBODY looks at your face when you are talking to them!!! I did that once at my cousins wedding yrs ago I swear I should have drawn eyes down there :biglol:
And..i wouldn't have to worry about the possible pole burns..LOL
ROTFLMAO :biglol: :biglol: :biglol: :biglol: :biglol:
Oh now I love a good pant suit go for it!!!!! And it sounds like you would be confident in one as well. And then you can really work the tables and poles at the dance :p
Just be careful about wearing a too slim of skirt as it sounds like you would look like me ( tits on stilts :biglol: )
Thanks for the suggestions ladies...the thing I most have trouble with is having something that flatters my figure (or lack there of) but also doesn't make me look as old as my Mother. I think I'd like to have something that falls just below my knee..and I am a bigger fan of a 2 piece set rather than a dress. Would it be too casual for me to wear a pantsuit?? I do love a wide legged trouser with a fantastic pair of heels. But what do I put on top??
I will try Penningtons Dawn, it certainly can't hurt. I just usually find most plus sized clothing (even shirts) are cut to fit a HUGE pair of hips..which I don't have.
I found those same dresses Bigmama...been searching Sears, JCPenney..and all the other online places I can think of. I HATE shopping for clothing!!! HATE HATE HATE it!!!
Also...is it wrong for me to look SEXY for a change?? Maybe actually show off a little of my whopping cleavage??
What about something like these
Have you ever shopped Penningtons? Not all of their clothes may fit you-doesn't sound like their pants, skirts, etc. would anyway BUT I'm thinking you may find a really nice lightweight jacket to inspire an outfit. Nothing stuffy like the traditional suit jacket, but something in a lightweight summer fabric that is unlined.
A girlfriend of mine who shops there has an issue with her upper arms-I have never seen them. She gets their smallest size, 14 I think, and it's got to be just when the stuff arrives in the store because there are always only a few in that size (she says). I checked their website but nothing shown looks like the stuff she wears, but do check out what's available in the store. My friend always looks like a million bucks.
I'm thinking you should show off your legs with a slim skirt and heels.
Hey Mel welcome to the club I think we are twins other than I am 5 81/2 :biglol:
Defin wear high heels and if you buy a skirt I think one just below or around your knee with an a frame will be flattering on you ( it balances out the wide shoulders and big boobs or it does on me!!! :p )
When are the weddings? I look good in suits as well as long as the jacket is a bit longer seems to hide the tire and reduce the boobs but a good length skirt or pants that go long with high heels looks good. I just bought a white pant suit and I love it .
I know what you mean about everything being sleeveless what about a light summer wrap to go around your shoulders if you are uneasy about your arms.
Oh do you want me to send you my pearls :biglol: :biglol: yes I have them on again today :biglol: :biglol:

Mel, we all come in different shapes and sizes and no matter how one looks, it's always the way one dresses, that makes a difference...so I would suggest that you get a 2 piece with a longer top and keep the top plain and simple so as to slim the upper part as much as you can.
A longer skirt, above ankle length will be appropriate and if you have beautful feet to show, then buy the sexiest tall heels sandals you can find. A nice small clutch purse will be suitable too.
Do you ever look for the half sizes but also in petite....
Just go out and try on as many clothes as you can....and see which one flatters you the most! I'm sure you'll find something which will make you feel good about yourself. Good luck :)
Just browsing the WNTW website..found this pic...this chick's shape is almost exactly like mine...be nice gals..don't throw things at me.
