What is the recommended glass thickness for a glass desk top? There will not be an additional surface beneath the glass. It's for 18"x 5 foot length.
I went to Speedy Glass yesterday and the counter person quoted me for 5mm. My instinct tells me this is too thin? They had it on top of their countertops, but I specifically asked if it would be suitable as a surface by itself. I have a glass top coffee table and it is more like 1/2-inch thick.
Anyone know of other glass sources in Ottawa?

sweetie
i have glass tops on both my dining room table and my coffee table....both are 1/4" thick....i've had them both for a few years now and they've never been an issue.
I have a glass topped desk and the glass is pretty thick I don't have a tape measurer here so I can't measure it for you but I would go to a Store like Staples and see how thick the glass is on their desks are.
