NO questions are stupid. Ask anything you want.
You will need a level to make sure the rod is straight, tape measure, screw driver, possibly a drill and ladder.
Welcome to the boards and remember there is not such thing as a stupid question here we have all asked plenty of questions and all gotten many great answers.

Hey there, its not a stupid question at all...you gotta start somewhere.
Basically all you'll need is a screwdriver (if you have to buy a new one..get one with multi-bits that store in the handle-like the one from Home Hardware), a level, and depending on what you are screwing it into...possibly a hammer and some plastic wall anchors. Its likely that whatever curtain rod you buy will include all the mounting hardware..including these plastic anchors. Hope this helps.
