Where do I find sconces?

I would like to buy my mother-in-law a pair of sconces to go with her gold-finish mirror but I can't seem to find anything. Anyone have any ideas of where I might get them? Bombay has some but they're all hand-rubbed bronze, which I don't think would go with the mirror, and most are really large.

Hi,

In my opinion, search in google with word "sconces" and you will find many sites which have designed and modern sconces. I think you will also find some good price and some good offers on sconces.

I just saw some on the weekend at Bowrings. They are more traditional in style, but very elegant. You might want to check it out.

I've seen lots of sconce shelf things at Homesense that you could put a candle on. In fact I always wondered where they would look nice and on either side of a mirror would be a good place. The come mostly in wood tones and I think it might be difficult to get a true match to an existing shade of gold but you could paint some too.

Sorry, forgot to mention, my M-I-L wants the kind that you put a candle in, not the electric kind that are hard-wired. She wants them more for decoration than anything else.

I've gone sconce shopping a few times and have to say the best selection is usually at lighting stores. They usually have a much better selection than other stores and their prices aren't too bad either if you hit the right ones.

Otherwise the usual stores that have lighting will usually have a few models to choose from. I really can be a bit of a shopping trip to find some you like.

Have you checked HD? They have some really cool looking ones that are egg shaped and alabaster looking.
