chipping it was a night mare and we ar enot done, we are piling it on the driveway for now until we are all done and ready to have a big truck pick it up.
DH used to love chipping the stuff ou of the boxes when it got hard...i could hear him cursing from a mile away...lol...needless to say we didn't continue that job for very long...although it paid really really well...lol
that is the thing it is so heavy that we can't haul it with a half tonne
Is the residue from mining. In Sudbury it is from the nickel mines. It is hauled in the molten state and dumped, then it hardens. There are hills of it all around Sudbury. Yes yucky tar-like stuff. :)
DH used to haul slag...from Sudbury a few years back....made a mess of the dump truck...lol...yucky stuff....l:)
is gravel-like byproduct of processing iron ore. It's dark grey and in abundance at ISPCO in Regina.
Lots of people use it like pea gravel. It's not very pretty, and it's got sharp-ish edges (not rounded like pea gravel) but it's cheap and plentiful, so lots of people use it, especially in non-paved parking lots.
I have some at my house (unfortunately). On the to-do list to get rid of.

I planted some stuff cause last year we pulled a tonne of cedars out, so I planted the easy hardy plants and then we removed some disgusting slag (never use that stuff) and added a patio we still have a bunch of sod to add and we made a dog kennnel or area and fixed up our firepit it is not done and still really messy but I can post some pictures when I get hom tonight.
