Which chest of drawers

My dh is a talented carpenter in his spare time.
He has opted to make us a chest of drawers for our master bedroom. We looked around to buy one, but anything that is fine quality and solid wood is roughly in the $2000 range. He can make it as good and much cheaper.

So my question is what style should we decide on? What is the trendy design these days for a chest of drawer?
Our headboard and ottoman are dark stained brown wood and leather.
Send photos this way of ideas and styles pleeeease!

Great idea to look at building your own cabinet! One of the resident DIY experts, Karenm and her handy husband Jake have tackled a couple of cabinet-making projects, so you could get some tips and pointers her too. They did a RH style cabinet for their front entryway.

Cat, good idea for hubby to make a dresser for your bedroom.......here is part of the bedroom suite my DH built for us some years ago.........I know it's not modern but wouldn't change it for anything, he'll throw me out the door if I have to do that, it's his pride and joy :D

thx for the replies, I was just about to give up hope, lol

I like the pic posted. I understand about the drawers being flush. I hadn't considered no overhang though. Good idea.

I found this one on the net. What do you think?

I liked the one pictured but just staight top no overhang. The drawers should be inside with the dividers showing does that make sense just like ths picture showing.
