I am still leaning towards painting the oak kitchen cabinets white. If I do this, do I match the white cabinets to the white appliances??
I know that stainless steel appliances would be the suggestion to get - except that I really like warm metals. Divine Design just had an episode where Candace used brushed gold handles on white cabinets - LOVED IT. I am on the hunt for the brushed gold handles.
A picture of the kitchen for reference...(only 2 weeks until possession day!)

I'm currently in the process of painting my kitchen cabinetry. We are painting from a medium brown stain (oak) to white. I am using ICI's Natural White. I like it a lot. It's warm. My MIL has very white cabinetry and it looks cold, even though it matches her appliances. I do have white appliances as well but I am not concerned with matching whites.
If you're looking for cabinet pulls, you may want to check out Ebay.ca. I purchased our pulls from a seller. Here is a general seach for brushed gold cabinet pulls: http://shop.ebay.ca/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=brushed+gold+cabinet+pulls&_sacat=See-All-Categories
Good luck with your project. I am finding it to be A LOT of work but hopefully it will be worth all the effort.
I look forward to seeing pictures of your kitchen once you're done. :)
How refreshing. That kitchen is going to look fabulous with cloud white on those cupboards. I have been seeing a few more all white kitchens these days and I am lovin' it.
Don't worry - it's the "new thing" and will be everywhere before you know it.
Just out of curiousity, what is your plan for your sink and faucet?
thanks Cherylsmom. I was hoping cloud white would look good with white appliances.
We are replacing the fridge for sure. The other appliances will be replaced over time, with the cooktop being 2nd on the list. I am actually going to look at the cupboards where the cooktop is and if it is possible cut the cabinets and put in a slide in range. That way I can have a "pantry" type cupboard where the built in oven is right now.
Lee Valley does have warm toned handles but nothing that I like. Candace Olsen's supplier for her hardware is from the states and may be out of my price range - I will have to see where my budget sits after the other things get done.
My cabinets were painted Cloud White (BM) and my appliances were white. Looked great. I think IKEA has some brushed gold hardware now and I'm sure you can find some at Lee Valley.
What an awful situation to be in - you have my sincerest sympathies.
With regard to your cabinets - I would test the paint colour to make sure it doesn't look dirty next to the appliances - or make them look dirty. Is it just the fridge in your pic or are you buying new appliances?
guess you've got over the "we don't want to sell any more" phase???

I need to be thinking what to do with this house. How else do you get through the crappy stage of packing!?!? Seriously though, we are not 100% certain the house will be ours - might as well plan as if it is ours. It is not like I will have time to 'mourn the loss' of the house b/c I will be to busy looking for a new one!!

If you can't find the handles you want, spray-paint is never a bad way to go.
i would totally paint the cabinets whtie and they don't have to match the appliances exactly. Cloud white is a great option for paint colour. For other paint colour options i would suggest checking out design inc episodes. Sarah R uses colours like light blues, beiges and grey for kitchen cabinets ... looks great. White is classic though. You can have so much fun with your backsplash to make it all pop. I believe laminate countertops can be very inexpensive too if you want to change them out. I love kitchens... have fun redoing yours. :)
