I have an older house as you can see by the photo. I have taken those pictures off the wall and I would like to arrange others...I have a wide variety of different sizes and wonder if anyone could help me with it. We do have that musical cabinet in that one corner but it can be moved. I have also added a small corner antique cabinet which only comes into the main wall about 10 inches...Nothing to get to excited about...
Would you suggest groupings of smaller pictures or pictures on both sides the small?/ Help...Don't worry about the light...there is a larger new one going up.
Thanks

njp53, have you considered using oval or round frames on either side? You have a lovely room but it has mostly square/rectangular shapes and I think it might be good to introduce more rounded shapes. Just an idea to consider. :)
i think you posted your lovely room before or someone has one just like yours...i remember loving the character that your home offers...........are you able to lay out the pictures you want to re hang and take a picture.....if we could see, im sure there would be lots of suggestions.........love the inspiration pics that Mrs Fancy and Jan took!

I like picture posted by jan-in-van. Interesting arrangement for modern art.
For traditional type of art I like very much the idea of framing them in all different types of frames.
The thing that will unite them all will be the color of frames and mats.
It doesn't have to be white like on the picture, but you can pick it from your own art -some common color.
I think you can create two different clusters of pictures from left and right of the window.
They don't have to be symmetrical, but share the similar framing.
Good luck!
I was more concerned about the colour of your ceiling. It would look beautiful with a light blue between the beams. As for the art - what else do you have to hang on the wall? Do you have two equal sized larger prints? Something about 24"x36" or larger, hanging vertically? One each side of the window would work well here. It would suit your room, Large portraits give a grand style to Victorian diningrooms.
Welcome njp53.
This is a picture that I saved because I like the layout of the frames. They aren't all in a straight line but I think if you could examine this closer you would find a pattern (this is what I've found in any layout I like). Most have heavy frames but they aren't all the same. You will probably find a subtle colour transition from one piece to the next. This might be in frame colour in one, the picture in the next.
For your house start by tracing every picture you are interesting in hanging onto brown paper. Measure the space on your wall and then practice different layout on the floor. Then if you are like me, this layout will be moved about on the floor for a couple of weeks until you like the balance. Then move the layout to the walll. Tack up with making tape. You can then move things around again if necessary.
I don't know how many pictures you have to give advice on one or both sides. Do your pictures frames have a consistent style - antique, unique? Colour. You could include some pictures on your side table. Make them part of the setting.
