Who to hire?

I live in an older style bungalow on a corner lot. We are really needing to put a driveway in this year, but I am not sure who to hire to help with the "look" of the area. Putting the driveway in affects the entrance of our home as well as a fence, shrubs etc. Do I hire a decorator for this, or a landscape specialist? Not sure which way to go with the design of all this.
I was wishing to go cement, but it looks like we may have to go with ashpalt due to the large area (over 1200 square feet). Is it possible to put cement curbs, then ashpalt so the edges are nice and even, not like a highway? Who would I call on? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thank you so much for the replies. I will definately check with the city, and see if I can find a landscape designer to help me with this dilemma. We live in a plain old bungalow and our front door is actually on the side of the house. It is an ugly first impression to say the least. Wish us luck!

If you are planning to extend the driveway in width, check with the city before you do this because in some city neighbourhoods you are not allowed to do this. I have learned from someone recently that he rents out a home and one day he received a letter to shorten his driveway because it was against the city by-law. The only reason the city knew about it, is because someone had reported someone on a parking issue in the driveway and when they came to check, they saw the driveway the way it is (extended widthwise). They said to the owner of the house that they usually don't bother with such an issue unless someone reports and they come and see it.

You can call a landscape designer to help you with this. They will design the lay out for you. If they don't do it themselves (some do, some don't) they will give you direction to have it done.
Yes you can put any type of border with asphalt.
