Window Coverings Advice

peonygirl's picture

Can anyone suggest the type of window covering to be used for a patio door?  There are two doors, one of the doors opens, and the other is stationary - it doesn't even have a handle. I was hoping for a woven look just covering the glass, but I think my only alternative is vertical blinds or curtains?  Suggestions please.  Also, if you have any pics that would be helpful.

Hello Peonygirl,

Vertical blinds or roman blinds are great options for patio doors. For the roman blinds, choose a material like seagrass that has a natural texture, and if you prefer, they only need to be the width of the glass, not the entire door. Here are a few articles from our website that may help you:

I hope that helps!

Please let me know if you have any other questions, and I would be happy to help.

Hi Lisa, how would the roman blinds work?  Would the door hit the blind when it opens b/c it is a door not a sliding door?

How about having a film put on the glass doors?  I didn't like the look of curtains on my glass door going to the bathroom so I took it to some folks that do windows.  They were able to put a film on the glass and presto, the privacy issue is no more.
I had a  film similar to sanblaster glass put on.  No pattern or colour and it did the trick.  You know someone is in the room but you have total privacy besides a sense of zen; a nice simple clean look.

You have many choices for a patio door. One is call a panel track. I have pics on my blog if you want to check them out. They  have a large secection of materials including woven woods. Good luck

I think a vertical blind with wide blinds (about 6 to 10 inches wide) would look nice.    I know sears has these but any blind place would probably have a better selection.  I think blinds look better if matched with the wall colour.
