Window treatments with transom windows

We have 9 foot ceilings with tall windows. We have 12" transoms above the windows. There is roughly 12" above the transom to the ceiling.

Are window treatments supposed to cover the transoms? It would be nice to let the extra light in while still having the privacy, but I am also wondering about the possible glare on the television. We also have the smaller angled window on the left to consider as well. My initial thought is faux wood blinds and curtains with the wood blinds being mounted below the transoms and the curtains/rod being mounted above the transoms.

Also have the same issue with the patio doors with 12" transoms above them. No clue what to use to cover these (I hate vertical blinds). As you can see we don't have a lot of room on the sides for curtains to be pushed back.

thanks in advance :)
