Sorry Cathie--- I thought you took your pic from Winner's down because you coudn't get a shot of it because of the glare of the glass in front of it but I now realize there is no glass ------DUH! OMG! I wouldn't tell you to put glass over St. Olga. Heaven forbid!!!!!

from what i know about paintings, they shouldn't be behind glass....i constantly tell hubby this, however he refuses it acknowledge mthis...perhaps he needs to hear it from someone else...i've heard the glass can 'burn' the paint...not sure about this....all i know is i can't look her straight in the eye :o

If the glare of the glass is bothering you----why not pop the glass out--- take it to a glass place and get them to cut a piece of non- glare glass. That way you can enjoy it from all angles---any time of the day. My Sis has a cottage with a lot of windows and all of the pics are done this way. Just don't do St. Olga! :) Maybe call and get an approx. price first. We had 2 fair size pics done years ago and they were around 60 dollars for both. Kind of worth it though if you can see the pic. It was annoying because they were over the sofa------big glare from a distance most of the time.

Cathie, I just love your pictures......very unique. As far as your DH's picture I thik that's a picture of the Madonna.........what's on the chest, is that a heart or some sort of pendant, because if it's a heart, that's the Sacred Heart of Mary. Don't laugh at me but I love that picture, it has such a serene look on the face....

I love the pic you found Cathy. Your husbands um well, I had a great laugh :D

I'm really not one to talk though, my DH thought Star wars pop cans would be a valuable thing to collect- unopened.
Ya right, the cola ate right through the tin cans and ruined everything in his "collection box". Paper and pop in a dark out of the way box = lots of smelly mold :biglol:
I love those moments when you don't even have to say "I told you so" :D

At least a painting, however ugly, could be worth something;)

Thanks for the laugh girls!!

kipper...he won't evevn let me take it out of that frame....cuz i agree with you...a different frame 'might' make it more appealling....but he feels it should be kept intact. he doesn't believe me when i tell him it's apaint by number.

Hehe Cathie, you make me laugh. I really like your Asian find, it looks great, and fantastic price too.

I could learn to love your husband's too, maybe, but she needs a different frame! Something more ornate and guilded. He might be right though, she might be worth something... is the painting signed? It might be worth taking to an art appraiser to see. The worst they can tell you is " it's value lies in it's appeal to your senses". It might be fun to check out just for the heck of it.

no it's a plaster frame....weighs a ton....with a metal look finish...it has a shadow box, inlayed with black velvet and the asian princess is made to look like ivory.. and yes, it does go well with the other pics/prints on the wall...thanks!
