I moved into a new house and started some flower beds in 2002. Each year since have been in a constant battle with wire worms (larvae of the click beetle). They love bulbs of any sort and most kinds of plants so far as I can tell. Wiped out beds of pansies and Jacob's ladder, etc. Thinking ahead to spring, I'm wondering if anyone has had any success ridding/controlling wire worms in flower beds.

The only way I know to get rid of them is to :
Cut up raw potato in 1/4's and insert a stick into each 1/4. Then bury the potato pieces 3-4 " into the soil in your garden around the plants they are eating.
After a week pull up the potatos using the stick and destoy them as they will be infested with the worms.
Repeat this until the problem is solved.
