Working on a wedding..

So not sure if many of you know this but I do event planning. I have a wedding coming up with a TIGHT budget. I mean they only have about $20/ center piece. It is do able but I need help coming up with something. The wedding is a winter theme. Blue and silver is their theme colors. Can you post suggestions? I have a few ideas that I will post when I can find the pictures again but I am pretty sure it is going to be over budget and I don't want to do that to these clients.

Thanks!

Instead of gel - and way cheaper too ;) scrunch cellophane in the clear vase and fill with water and add whatever else you're using - twigs, blooms, etc.... Looks like ice, does not melt and it's really inexpensive.

I've made centerpieces for a Christmas dinner and they were a win.

Try www.weddingbee.com Lots of centrepieces to look at there. Check out the gallery. If they are on a tight budget there are ideas on the net with mason jars. You can buy them by the case in different sizes and cover them with fabric or tissue paper and tie with ribbon. Here are a couple with baby's breath.

And some cakes just for the heck of it because they're pretty :)

I just did a search for "snowflake wedding" in Google Images and found lots of cool ideas that you could probably adapt for the wedding you're doing. Check these out....

Very pretty! That's kind of what I had in mind but I didn't envision them so tall! How would you get them to not tip over? I guess maybe some of that sticky stuff on the bottom (you know, the balls of play-doh-like stuff that teachers use to stick stuff to the wall because it doesn't take the paint off).

Are they like a jell candle? Do they smell?

I was thinking something along this line..

This would be even better but the flowers would be over budget..

& also with potted plants (orchids work well) - easily saves on the hassle of vases or the arrangement of flowers.

I also like the idea of not just naming the various tables by 'numbers' - instead, each table could have a theme - depending on what the couple's interests are they could be music based (Beethoven table, or Reggae, ect)

I find you can individualize or personalize the event with unexpected small touches that create an interest :)

samking, that is a good one, and I don't know why I diddn't think of it - I had small pots of mini roses, and each of the momd got to take one home with them. We had a small wedding (parents and siblings only), head table was just him and me, with about another 12 or so people; table was in a T-shape,

Why not a mix of creamy white & dyed blue potted pointsettia plants with sliver glittery sparkles.

If a winter wedding, these plants are in season and can be easily obtained for a fair price.

What about just some kind of chiffon type fabric with shiney sequins thrown on it. Centrepieces get in the way anyhow.

Just remembered I went to a wedding once where the table center pieces were filled with that gelatinous stuff that is all grumbly and looks like ice (i assume florists carry it). They just had a simple flower floating in each vase and the stuff reflected light nicely as well as keeping the flower watered.

What about using twigs painted white in a glass vase (maybe from Ikea), with clear glass marbles or blue beach glass? You could even use those small battery operated rice lights in white to add sparkle.

Seems like ice might be a cost friendly idea. Any way you could make large ice cube vases or something (if you can figure out a way to keep the melting part in check)?
