and i lost...deal was if i won...witching hour...if i lost...he picked it...i almost had him by twisting his nipples but he broke free...i gave him 3 options...

1--paint witching hour
2--paint the furniture
3--paint wood trim

this is why the wrestling match was gonna make the decision

Mike...you will be happy to know that DH is with you on the goldy toned colour....any suggestions?

I have no problem with monochromatic schemes -- got one myself :-) And chocolate would add a nice bit of weight to it. Could look really nice actually.

Well, Jenjen normally I WOULDN'T even think about foregoing a gift but desparate times require desparate measures! For the love of all that is good...do not let DH pick another color!

Since you have a birthday coming up, maybe you could suggest that instead of DH buying you a pressie he could just let you paint whatever color you want in the bedroom. From past experience you should know he is color blind....How is that contemporary white in your foyer?

BLAH!!!!...lol...but good idea Newbs!!!

with an orangey yellow cast... you need to go significantly darker than this midtone if you are going to stay in the warm tones.. All about balance.

Gray Flannel Kitchen... how SUITING.. ha ha ha .. I've picqued your interest huh Mr. D?

By the way - I can forgive you laminate flooring in Beech Mr. D - we'll throw a seagrass runner on top of it trimmed in Dark Gray Flannel Chenille to tie it into the walls/cupboards!

I agree with Jem...no to the beadboard in my opinion. In light of the no blue, no purple, I vote for the chocolate. MUCH better than the gold....ask me I know from experience...in my LR.

not beadboard. Please jenjen, just paint. You are so good at painting. jmho

I think your dh will go for the chocolate theme proposed

or what about something in purples to match his bruises?

jenjen's picture
jenjen

what if i did a beadboard or panel type thing?...do you think that would look good?

the other thing i just went thru a whole s**t load of my magazines and not one piece of bedroom furniture was the same colour as mine...either white or dark...does no one have furniture the same colour as mine.... :hairpull:

Since the Bird has flown the coop. Mike, I think it is reds with blue or purple undertones that are the problem. Wine is out,, but a red with a brown undertone, along with some nice brandy and cognac shades would match the tones in the wood and Jen could have that elegant monochrome thing going at least, since she has rejected the sex appeal of black.

Now, did I make enough liquor references to suit you and inspire jenjen? Do I make the least bit of sense in reality or just in my mind? Hey, wait a minute, this isn't reality!

do his kitchen in Grey Flannel :-)

Red; what colour exactly is her furniture? If the stuff is too red -- traditional cherry for example -- won't burnt reds and reddish browns (the classic navajo red) look a little funny?

hit him somewhere else for me? The Cat is on to something though.. probably doesn't hurt that she was referring to my show... however.. what about a darker hot chocolate. We MUST avoid gold tones because of your furniture.

Turret Brown from CIL 80YR 17/129 would be my first choice. Brick Dust is my second choice 50YR 25/142 both of which would look good with red accents. The browns are very red in colour so it is more of an analogous colour scheme vs. a monochromatic. These colours will go nicely with the rest of your house... think a country version of chocolate - milky chocolate! Burnt reds and oranges would tie the space nicely together as well.

Oh and please tell DH from me that he is a WIMP! A REAL MAN would have gone with the WITCHING HOUR.

Jenjen lost the wrestling match -- bad technique! When "twisting" you shouldn't have gone for the nipples . . . LOL

I will inform DH that his battle for a red library room was unacceptable on the DH scale.

a colour. It doesn't matter what it is by now, just the fact that she's got one. It could be bloody bubble gum pink!

But first I have words for 3blackcats: get over it girl! Sometimes hetero males are just plain interested in their bedrooms. "3blackcats!" That's an interesting handle. You wiccan?

Back to Jenjen: It's not that golden shades were my first choice; but since your DH was having such a difficult time with the colours suggested by our playmates here, I was trying to come up with something that would match both your wood shades and appeal to your man. Men often like blue -- so it's odd that yours doesn't (I don't either, by the way) -- but they also usually like goldy/sandy tones too. They're warm and that seems to appeal to men. But pick a good shade; not too yellow (maybe Red can recommend a good PC shade, or Foxxy a good P&L shade). In fact, it might be a good idea to pick your bedding first and then match the paint to it. I still like the idea of deep red bedding because it should go with your woods, and if it's the right tone, it can be sumptuous, sensual and down right sexy. But it has to be a deep tone of red I think. Too light and it will look all wrong -- somewhere between ruby and burgundy is my best guess; but closer to burgundy. And in a lux fabric; I still think silk (or something that looks like it) would be better than velvet and its look-alikes -- which might be too heavy.

Are you up for a feature wall behind the bed? I don't normally do feature walls, but from the photo you posted it looked like the architecture of your room could support one. If so you might try and sneak in something darker, just to add a little mood to the place. Not sure though what the best colour would be -- chocolate perhaps?

Someone gave you what I thought to be very good advice, just do it yourself and he'll get used to it eventually.
There can only be one alpha decorator in a household and it has to be YOU.

great having a DH with a "do what you want" attitude. I have free decorating reign in the household. I do ask for his opinion mind you, but only really listen when he agrees with me. ;)

one minute he tells me do what you want...then when i decide i want to do something he all of a sudden becomes a designer.... :hairpull:
