YAY!!!! Its time to buy stuff.....

Ok, so we've found a house to rent...and get the keys to the place tomorrow. (These army dudes DO NO waste time!). I think we've decided that since the headboard at Superstore has been dropped down to $49...we're gonna pick it up today. I do have decor questions tho Ladies. For those of you familiar with Ikea, I've chosen the teal quilted bedspread, two teal throw pilliows and the teal velvet drapes for our room. (I'll post pics for those of you that aren't) There's NO WAY anyone is gonna talk me outta this stuff....I LOVE IT!!!! SO, here's my question. What kind of bedding am I going to get to coordinate with my teal stuff? I want to use the bedspread just as a throw, or perhaps save a few pennies and buy the actual throw I posted instead of the bedspread. DF says "whatever" when I ask his opinion. LMAO! I'm thinking maybe a print of some sort for the comforter (I prefer comforters to duvet covers) with maybe some teal and white and taupe? Or.....perhaps some brown thrown in as well? Thoughts? Suggestions?

TIA
Mel

I've noticed in the pics I'm attaching from Ikea's website, the colours look all different, but in the store, the colours are pretty much dead on!!

I'd still love your choice from Ikea. On my laptop they show as a strong colour, not the least bit feminine. The other suggestions, even though black & white, read more feminine to me because of their ornate designs. I know dh would agree with me on this one. I'd add your soft touch with pillows.

Well, I have the headboard!!!!! Now the bedding search becomes real..LOL!!!!!

I really like the bedding you posted from the Linens-n-things site Jill. I LOVE a couple of the sets. Gonna drop in there today on my way to work and see what they have in person.

Thanks gals!

I just found another one choc/white set from Zellars:

Zellers: Alfred Sung Chocolate Dream Bedding

I'm not sure but there seems to be a hint of teal threading on the cover. Here's the link: http://www.hbc.com/zellers/HouseAndHome/subPage.aspx?Page=Products%20-%20AlfredSung&PageNo=1

Mel76, congrats!

Great job picking out those items from Ikea, love teal/turquoise! As for bedding suggestions, I think either black/white or even chocolate/white would look really nice. I've included some suggestions of chocolate/white and black/white bedding ideas below that I think would look great with your accessories, one from Linen 'n Things (online) so not sure if this is the one you were referring to in your post, but it's chocolate/white not black/white.

Linens 'n Things: Nate Berkus™ Maharani(on sale!)

Anthropologie: India Ink Bedding

I adore Anthropologie! Love their clothes and they have some great home decor items. There are some really nice bedding sets on their website, I wasn't able to save them but take a look: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/category.jsp?popId=SLEEPING&selectedProductSize=&navAction=poppushpush&navCount=22&pushId=SLEEP_BEDDING&itemCount=-1&id=SLEEP_BEDDING_DUVETS&selectedProductSize1=

I like the Inida Ink set, but also the Hedgerow and Solobedu Bedding sets.

Walmart: Springmaid Lynnwood Comforter Set
I don't like the bedskirt but thought I'd toss this one out there if you wanted to go with a similar colour scheme as your accessories

FYI - most of the inspiration came from these sites:

I hope you find something you like! I love decorating our bedroom, I'm waiting for our new bedding to arrive, then have to get new furniture. It's so fun!

I would choose just plain white duvet cover or comforter. Ikea has this one. http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/30046474

I prefer a comforter too, makes the bed look neater. But you are getting the teal quilted throw, so that would look great folded on the bed on top of a duvet.

I do want to add, I loove this set. I saw it at Ikea, and want it for my guest room. It is much prettier in real life. A dark navy, mixed with crisp white. But might be too flowery for a man, lol

Yeah, grey probably isn't the best choice. But, white is definitely in contention.

Well I guess the the pale gray suggestion is out? Stay with the white then it will look crisp against the teal, wish stores were open in my area today, everthing is closed.

Awwwwwwww...Arizona....thinking about us...how sweet!!! I'm hoping there will still be some left when Paul heads over there today.

I like that teal colour, I might have to check out Ikea for myself.
I have seen it paired up with that coral colour that is popular now but I prefer the black and white Cathie suggested with glass or chrome sparkly accents.
It's funny but I noticed that headboard at Superstore and thought that would be perfect for you guys but thought you had settled on the metal bed.

Not painting the walls....they are the normal rental house/unit colour.....BEIGE!

How about bedding in a pale gray (my fav) or soft blue gray. The white is a great suggestion also. Are you painting the walls? If not what colour is on there now?

:( Well, its just your basic 3 bedroom place...with a full basement and a yard! Almost like living in my own home again...certainly much roomier than this damn apartment! And its only a couple of blocks from here, so no need to change schools/daycare, and we can still walk there.

I like the black/white/teal idea. I picked out really pretty lamps at Bowring that have a silver base and black shades....that would work (They're also from last season, so my manager says I'd get a "really good" deal on them) I've seen some bedding I like on Linens-n-things site, but I have to work at noon today...and I'm pretty sure none of the other stores open till then. GRRRRRRRRRRRR...that means no shopping till tomorrow.

Good plan having a comforter in the cooler months and a bedspread in the warmer months. Makes sense. I've never been able to afford to have a pretty bedroom...with a summer AND a winter look! Too busy spending money on the house renos :(

Thanks gals, keep the ideas coming!!!!

such a boy...whatever...doesn't he realize the importance of thes 'stuff'
my vote goes for teal/black/white....masculine/crisp.....ok mel...picture your man in a black suit, white shirt and a teal tie. i think it'd be gorgeous together. and if you want a feminine touch thrown in add some prety white flower in a clear glass vase...black throw matts on the floor. you could have both white and black sheets.
oh....tell us about your new house.

Pretty colour. I'd buy the comfortor for winter and the bedspread for summer. Also the pillows and curtains. Once you have the base you can add different pillows and throws as you find them.
