Well, I’m awfully excited!

I’m leaving my job that I hate to pursue my own decorating business! DH & I have had to restructure our finances somewhat to do this, since I may not have much in the way of income at first (or even the first several months – I’m not ignorant to the fact that this takes lots of work!). He is so supportive of me (he’s so cute!) and is excited with me about the whole prospect.

I bought the “Small Business for Dummies “ book – very helpful, plus tons of info on the internet, so I’ve been doing a lot of research to make sure I don’t get in over my head.

My last day here will be September 28. I’m staying for a couple more months just to build up some savings to fall back on, but I’m counting the days! (9 weeks & 2 days)

Anyhow – just wanted to share with all my décor-loving friends!

:D :D :D :D :D

That was beautiful!!! You've just described one of my past lives, for sure. We had a little taste of Paris, a few years back, and I am itching to do a full tour de France!!!
I would fit right in, I cry, table dance, wear a beret, stir sauces all day, throw cologne on everything, wear fish net stockings to bed,(their good for vericose veins), and add "de" before every word.
They'd be welcoming me back with flowers and wet kisses, I mean licks!!

AAN - I'd choose Europe myself (not that I don't want you here!)

But imagine sitting in a beautiful, centuries old chateau in the French Alpes. Out your door are fragrant fields of lavendar, and past those fields, you see sunflowers for miles. The scent of lavender permeates your nose as you sip on your wine from the vineyard down the road from you, while planning your trip for the next day to the Mediterranean coast.

Or you could come to Vancouver and stare at concrete and smell the exhaust from cars.

LOL! (just kidding, by they way - I do like Vancouver) :)

beachy not going so well, as a matter of fact I've been waiting for a load from Ikea for the past month, and I'm afraid to admit it does not fit in my beachy theme. I'm already considering painting my blue table black :D Obviously having no furniture was the best choice for me :D

No, not kidding, we'll see, in a few years onwards and upwards... Vancouver or Europe seems like the most logical choices. Mountains and water, I kind of need both :D

Thanks AAN! (and glad you're here, by the way...YAY!)

Even if I make it huge, I'll always give you a good deal! :D

Are you seriously thinking of moving to Vancouver? Or was that a joke that flew right over my head?

I am very excited for you, how fun! My newest great scheme would be to move to Vancouver in a few years, perhaps I can hire you then, unless you've made it HUGE and have become wildly expensive? :D Lets hope for that shall we.
Cheers.

Thanks for your support and encouragement everyone! I’m so excited but also scared. I know I can do it, but it’s the “unknown” that’s frightening. Although that's also part of the fun!

To answer questions some of you had:

Reginagirl – I’m not done my schooling yet, but what I plan is to work on it TONS over the next couple of months and hopefully be done by the time I’m off. If I’m not quite done, I’ll be able to apply myself full time to it come October.

Luvdesign – Good for you! I find the provincial government sites really helpful. There are a ton of links for small business information. Good luck to you too! And as I mentioned, the "Dummies" book is really good - it's not as dry reading as you might expect. The authors do a good job of keeping it interesting. LOTS of info in there.

Susie g – That would be very grand to meet at trade shows! And yes, this is my dream! I thought you already had a decorating business though??

And thanks again to everyone else for your kind comments!
:)
