I like the look of painted brick but if it outside, maintaining it could be a problem. You would be better to use a solid concrete stain on outdoor brick which should last longer because it soaks into the brick instead of sitting on top of it.
Long term is sealing the brick a problem? I don't know, but the look is great and if that issue can be resolved, I would go for it.
I am all for this look, it really updates an exterior look.
