The toile panels are gorgeous & at that price, hard to beat!
As trynto mentioned, california shutters work very well on patio doors. Here's some photos that I've posted previously that shows our shutters in our kitchen. They are easy to keep clean & ideal for us as people come in these doors from the pool all wet. They are a more expensive option, but we lucked out as they were installed by the previous owners before we bought the house.
I love toile!.....................in our old house we had california shutters on the patio doors...but this is an expensive option...about $900 bucks..............window coverings can add up Janet.......so if you want to stick with a budget.....buying panels for some windows and those HD white faux 2 inch wood blinds that can be cut to size....are great options......I only put the shutters on all front and back windows of the house for curb appeal and the side of the house had those HD blinds......and it was a nice compromise.....I did add some panels in the family room to warm things up...........good luck.......I know you must be enjoying all the decorating decisions...it is lots of fun........I am so happy for you!
Get the JC Penney Toile curtains Janet!!! They are FABULOUS!!!!!!!!
JC Penney accepts Canadian credit cards. You can order online or by phone,
1-800-222-6161
The Canadian Dollar is strong now. Shipping is not expensive and they tell you the shipping amount.
Cafe toile set $19. Panels $19 each all on sale. Comes in 4 colours. 100% cotton.
You cannot make them for that price let alone by cotton in Canada at that price.
thanks for sharing your picture.....very nice...i too was worried about the blinds looking too dated....i know they are working on giving them a more updated look but i still like the softness of the curtains....the blinds pearl posted are also a nice look....as for the downstairs we will likely just throw up the regular patio door blinds until we finish the recroom.

Janet, we used to have vertical blinds (80's stuff) and once we removed them and put panels I feel they look so much better. We also keep our panels drawn to one side and during the night we draw them together.
oh boy girls.........let me tell you, i feel like the sky is the limit now for window treatments :p .............and yes dbd panels to the floor :clapping: no dh is fine in the day time, the treatments would be open all day....but at night he doenst like people seeing in.....MEN...lol
Pearl i was going through the sears catalogue and i can even order blinds for my front window...i believe the window is only 72 inches.....thank goodness, no more custom made ones that i cant afford...yippeeee! :) the windows are all vinyle......so treatments would have to hang on the outside of the window...
You will all likely think im NUTS but one of my favourite fabrics is toile (in kitchen/eating area)....love it! and you cant buy it anywhere around here, not fabric or curtains.....may have to venture out of town.....

OH Janet....no baseboard heaters!!!... I think you have to go nuts and use floor length curtains all over that house. You seem to have enough room where the patio doors are to have nice long panels that can go off to the side during the day (I hope DH isn't worried about privacy during the day with those doors facing trees). Also, is there a clear view to the livingroom? If so maybe consider what the window coverings would be like in there while you are at it.
I bought 2 of these from Sears.ca $39 each, comes in 3 colours.
24"-72" wide and 72" long. Very easy to install.
I figured for that price when I tire of them there is no big money investment. You can add a valence in another fabric if you want by just covering the 6" at the top that hangs down. You could even glue fabric on.
Is you patio door wood or aluiminum? :)
