Zebrano or walnut laminate??

We saw some nice laminate flooring at Home Depot tonight. The price is nice, too!!

The laminate would go in the office and the other room in the basement.

I'm undecided between a zebrano laminate and a walnut laminate. I'm leaning towards zebrano because it's interesting and different. But maybe walnut is the safer choice??

There were moisture stains that the stain wouldn't hide, wasn't that it?
Although if you went dark enough it would hide most stains. If your basement was humid over time that might have caused it. I still find it strange they would put parquet in the basement.

Good to hear all the positive feedback -- thanks!! :)

Yep, hubby and I will install it. No idea where the moisture came from -- all the parquet we pulled up was completely dry and there were no signs of any moisture at all  I hope we aren't doing all this work for nothing!!

Smoodgie - this is the first opportunity I've had to give my virtual thumbs up for Zebrano laminate (having internet issues at home :( )... even though I'm late to pipe in, I wanted to say that I love your choice and it's looking terrific!! When will you and DH actually install it? Did you find the cause of the moisture?

I really like the zebrano as well, I would do it in my house as well.

My gf just installed the walut laminate in her new house and it looks great - either one i would have loved for your space.

janet, I do have a bit of a thing for zebra print ;)

It'll still be a while before we get the laminate installed -- we just started pulling up the parquet tonight. For now, here's a pic of a few rows of the zebrano laminate just lying on the floor......

We decided to go with the zebrano for the two rooms. They're not very big, so the pattern won't be overwhelming. We'll do the main areas of the basement in a more conventional floor -- maybe the walnut laminate. Although I'm still seriously considering cork.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I have to vote for the walnut. The Zebrano seems too busy imo. It is hard to tell from such a little picture. It just seems you'll be limiting your decorating choices for the future. I'm for the safe basics and funky in the accessories.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Zebrano Smoodge!!!!! The walnut is lovely too.....but given the choice I'd go a little crazier. (Go figure huh?)

im going to assume the first one is the zebra floor, that really is unique.....if the area isnt too large i think it would be awesome, now because im always bad for playing it safe, i absolutely love the second one. Ooops, sorry just re read your post, and i think because its an office and spare room, you could definately get away with the zebra one....smoodgie, it is so you because you always manage to pull a room together like no other. SMOODGIE STAMP :D
