Sloan chose Provençe blue and painted the interior of the drawers in Monet Blue to complement the bold strong shape of this chest. Sloan also updated the handles with clear crystal, and the result is cheery but sophisticated.
This chest lent itself perfectly to a delicate palette of pastel colours, using light grey as a base coat to unite them all. The beading around the drawers creates a clear border, making this is a good piece for painting.
This shelf for beans and herbs in glass jars has been painted in grey, with its lovely shape emphasized by white edging. Copper pots hang from red painted hooks, making a big statement in the room.
Here, the mood is set by the blue glass chandelier and enhanced by an array of French objets, including the marble-topped chiffonier, statue and neoclassical urn positioned over the far mirror.
Several elements of a typical Provençal bedroom are displayed here — the floor is tiled, there is a distressed, rush-seated bench for two, and an appliquéd and quilted bedcover lies on the lovely four-poster, wrought-iron bed.
A grand statement is made in typical French style by putting a large object — in this case an urn — in front of a mirror.
