A sweeping staircase adds traditional glamour to a unique foyer.
This custom, Jackson Pollack inspired wallpaper was created by Porter Teleo for celebrity designer Kelly Wearstler. “I designed it to look like art work,” says Kelly, author of the book, Hue. “Between the graphic and linear carpet runner and the organic wall covering, the balance is really cool.”
California sunlight brightens and instantly modernizes a classic hall.
"The chair is early-19th century, the busts are from a stage set and the two French commodes are from the '30s," says Kelly. "The green and black marble floor ties it all together."
Form meets function in this kitchen, thanks to banks of storage, a huge island and art deco bar stools.
“This was an all-new kitchen,” says Kelly Wearstler, the celebrity designer and author of the book, Hue.
“It comes off of the family room, so it needed to feel pretty and residential. I worked with a cabinet guy to create the whole kitchen in stainless steel with brass detailing, including covered refrigerator and freezer doors.”
Luxe leather furniture, paneling and classic symmetry elevate this eclectic room design.
"I think this room shows that you can mix different types of chairs and different scales — everything doesn’t need to be upholstered," says Kelly. "It also proves that all neutral doesn’t have to be boring."
Custom wallpaper on the ceiling adds graphic punch and contrast to an elegant chandelier.
Colours and textures collide in this unique space. “This is the one room my husband doesn’t like,” admits Kelly Wearstler, the celebrity designer and author of the book, Hue.
“But I love the big head on the table, and the vintage sofas. I had them redone in wisteria leather—they look like shells.”
In this principal bedroom, a glittering chandelier and elaborate millwork exude warmth and luxury.
All of the furniture is vintage, which just takes the design to another level," Kelly says. "The only thing new is the mirrored cabinet on the far wall, which opens up the whole room."
A bronze sculpture and modern leather chair work with old-world style mouldings and furniture.
"I love masculine things," says Kelly. "This room is just so warm and cosy."
Luxe marble and gilt details create a unique bathroom.
"This bathroom looks vintage, but it’s all brand new," says Kelly. "The Shagreen cabinetry, sexy lighting and a skylight make it such a warm space — I love being in there."
Mirrors broaden this already expansive master bathroom.
"I love the detailing of the marble columns by the bath," Kelly says. "Also, the marble work is so organic, yet very sophisticated."
A bold yellow and coral palette, in combination with the shapely bed and lighting, exude femininity and charm.
"I found the Italian 1950s chairs and had them redone in ruched leather," explains Kelly.
"As for the yellow, it’s a very bright room that needed a sunny colour."
A custom maple burl wood bed adds rustic charm to a refined space.
"This is my son, Elliott’s room," Kelly says. "The wallpaper is textured like crocodile, so it's playful but sophisticated. The commodes also have snakes as handles."
