An old brick mudroom gets a bright facelift with lots of natural light.
While renovating an old Toronto house, Peter Fallico — host of HGTV's Home To Flip — left no room unaltered. Refinishing this space — an uninsulated, brick-walled "heat-loss zone" — entailed framing, insulating and drywalling it, plus closing in a small window and adding a skylight. Now, this gateway from the kitchen to the backyard and basement is an inviting and airy space. A bench built from Ikea cabinets offers storage.
