Chilled Basil Limeade

This drink can easily be turned into the perfect summer cocktail with the help of a little vodka, white rum or silver tequila. What will be your summer cocktail pick?

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup basil leaves

  • 1 cup fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 4 cups soda water
  • Ice cubes

  • Basil leaves and lime slices, for garnish

Directions

Yield: Serves 6

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water over high heat. Bring to boil. Whisk to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat. Stir in basil. Infuse for 10 minutes. Strain into lidded glass jar. Cool completely. Stir in lime juice. Cover and refrigerate up to 2 days.
  2. Pour lime-sugar mixture into glass pitcher. Add soda water. Stir lightly. Add ice and garnish with basil leaves and lime slices.
