Philip Mitchell, who founded his firm in 2002 after previously working for two of Canada’s largest interior design firms, is renowned for his passion and energy. His approach is contemporary with a distinctive, casually elegant layered style that places a special emphasis on customization and appreciation of detail – interiors that combine form, function and balance with a gracefully edited selection of fine furnishings, art and accessories. Philip was raised between the Canadian countryside and the urban lifestyle of Los Angeles, in a household steeped in design. This mix inspired Philip’s love of the classics with a strong appreciation of contemporary very early on. Now, never defined by one style, Philip’s almost encyclopedic knowledge of design, architecture, art, textiles and historical reference results in each project reflecting the client’s unique personality. Philip Mitchell Design expertly oversees projects from initial design concepts, to landscaping to decorating, to art consulting in a collaborative and curative way. Philip’s work has been widely celebrated in magazines, newspapers, books and online. His passion for restoration has been recognized with numerous historic preservation awards and he’s been named one of the Top 25 Designers by House & Home. His first book, “Collected Interiors” will be released Fall 2021 by Rizzoli.
