With punchy tropical colours, contemporary art and sleek designer furniture, the 1950s bungalow of Tim Tanz and Jeff Matyas looks like it belongs in California, not Cambridge. Tanz, a design consultant at Toronto's Studio b, and Matyas renovated the entire home, adding 700 square feet for a grand entrance and principal bedroom. Learn how they divided an open-concept main floor into four vignettes: a formal living room, dining room, kitchen and TV lounge and bar — perfect for entertaining in grand style.

See more photos of this home in our April 2011 issue, and tour the backyard and pool house in episode 88.
