How do you create a luxe traditional look in a dated condo penthouse? Toronto interior designer Philip Mitchell accomplished just that. Tour his updated 1970s apartment, where he added a grand barrel ceiling in the hallway, classic panel moulding, a faux fireplace and marble finishes to replicate old New York City buildings. Learn his tips for hanging art, pulling one standout colour into various rooms, creating a cosy den with a concealed TV, and adding storage to a narrow galley kitchen and small bedroom.

See more photos of this home in our August 2009 issue, and our photo gallery of Philip Mitchell's designs.
