Functional Family Home
Architects David Zacharko and David Yustin filled this Vancouver home with clever storage elements for a modern and functional space.
The homeowners wanted an open interior space so Zacharko created a sense of separation by individually lighting each area and subtly "zoning" the spaces. For example, an airy peninsula-wall with cabinets below and open shelves above divides the kitchen from the dining area, hiding kitchen clutter from diners. Here, a rolling library ladder provides easy access to the highest cupboards. A window seat gives the owners' three kids a cosy spot to hang out.
