2014 Was The Year Of The Skyscraper
According to a recent report on annual skyscraper construction, 2014 was a blockbuster year for really tall structures with the completion of 97 buildings over 200 metres, or 656 feet, tall. While the tallest buildings were in the U.S. (New York’s One World Trade Centre, at 1,776 feet) and the U.A.E. (the World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi, at 1,251 feet), the rest of the top five — and much of the rest of the list — was in China, including the city of Shenyang, pictured above. Canada did make the top 20, though, with Toronto’s Aura at College Park (892 feet).
