Bold Decorating Tips

I just finished shooting an amazing house for the magazine that had so much personality. The designer and I were talking about how ironic it is that in Canada — one of the coldest, most wintery countries of all — we use so little colour in our homes. You would think that when winter lasts so long and we’re stuck inside, we’d want our homes to be rich, textured and full of soothing colour. But no! We conservative Canadians go the safe route and use beige, taupe and white over and over. Well I say, go bold or go home!

Okay, maybe not all the time — you do need some relief in your decorating. But the point is, if you love that orange table lamp, go for it! If you have an amazing collection of art, hang it all together in a confident, mismatch grouping that just makes you smile. Red matting never hurt either!

If you’re craving a little hit of bright, bold personality in your home, check out these items with pow!
