Bringing Brown Back

Is it me, or is anyone else starting to tire of all the greys and griege palettes? Isn’t it time to mix in some brown, moleskin, chocolate, chestnut, or castor brown already? Maybe it is just me. (I did, wrongly, predict the death of wallpaper two years ago at our office trends meeting.) Or maybe it’s just the looming fall season that makes me crave comfort and warmth. But I think brown is ready to be the new grey (again). I mean, come on, brown tones are just so darn classic and versatile, and their earthiness brings warmth to a farmhouse or lends a posh feeling to a penthouse. And yes, I know for many of you classic sophisticates, brown has never left. All I’m saying is, welcome back to my palette, brown. I’ve missed you.

Brown paints I love:

London Clay (244) from Farrow & Ball is a muddy brown favourite of mine.

Durango (2137-30) from Benjamin Moore is nice, too.

Above is Michael Penney’s fave: Bittersweet Chocolate (2114-10) from Benjamin Moore.

And how about a timeless fabric?
