Copper Craze

Silver and stainless steel have been dominating metals for the last decade, and although they are still very popular, it’s nice to see the warmer metals making a comeback. We’ve seen a lot of gold accents — both subtle and bold — appearing in the pages of House & Home, but it’s copper that’s been catching my eye lately. Here are some easy ways to incorporate some copper into your space.

Covering a fireplace in copper is a bold choice, but in this basement rec room of the 2009 Junior League Showhouse, it brings a warm glow to the room. I absolutely love the patina.

For those who can’t commit to such a permanent look, there are plenty of incredible accessories you can add to any space, big or small. One of my favourites is the bistro-style Redsmith Dining Chair from Anthropologie. Its burnished copper finish gives it a charming antique look that would be a great addition to a rustic dining room.

Photo Blog Copper Mirror Anthropologie

Another stunning Anthropologie find is the Standing Medallion Mirror. This beauty offers the perfect amount of sparkle without the trouble of having to mount it on a wall. This piece lends a vintage look without the permanence of wall treatments or furniture.

Photo Blog Copper Ikea Lamp

As usual, Ikea is right on trend with the Tallvik table lamp. Even with the copper finish, the shape and style scream contemporary. At $30, it’s hard to resist.

Photo Blog Copper Notebook Folders

If you’re thinking of placing that Ikea lamp in your home office, perhaps you should add some glitz to your office supplies as well. These notebooks and craft folders with metallic floral patterns from Oh Joy! are simply gorgeous and just might make your paperwork less of a burden!
