Is Anthropologie The Next IKEA?

Anthropologie is super-sizing its classic boutique-style shop to department store size. The brand has already expanded two locations — in Portland, Oregon and Newport Beach, California — to over 24,000-square-feet, which is more than double the size of their other stores.

The newly renovated stores will feature a “trend shop,” beauty shop and whole floor dedicated to home, complete with 12 fully decorated rooms. Think IKEA’s layout but with Anthropologie’s colorful, boho vibe. Also located on the home floor is a design service center where you can purchase custom furniture and choose from 75 combinations of fabrics, wallpapers and more.

The company plans to open four more stores in the next year in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania; Palo Alto, California; Walnut Creek, California; and Westport, Connecticut.
