Kathryn Ireland Visits H&H
Earlier this week, textile and interior designer Kathryn M. Ireland dropped by the H&H offices to show off her latest fabric collection.
Dubbed Mexico Meets Morocco, it’s a stunning medley of colour and pattern that speaks to the current urge to brighten things up.
Kathryn’s work has appeared in the pages of numerous glossies and she counts celebrities like Steve Martin and Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg among her clients (she’s based in L.A.), but her designs weren’t available in Canada — until now. Just last week, her website launched an online shop with international shipping to Canada. Yay! I’ve also heard that her fabric and wallpaper might soon be carried at a showroom in Toronto, making her look even more accessible.
Kathryn was as easy going and welcoming as her designs, which H&H editors have been drooling over in her latest book, Creating a Home (2009 Gibbs Smith).
It chronicles the restoration and decoration of her home in Ojai, California, which was just purchased by actress Reese Witherspoon lock, stock and cooking pots.
Seems Reese not only has a good eye for guys (ahem, Jake Gyllenhaal), but she knows a gorgeous home when she sees one.
Those of us with shallower pockets can scoop up Kathryn’s next project in Spring 2011. That’s when her follow-up book is due out, which is planned as a scrapbook of the reno of her house in France and will include lifestyle tidbits such as her favourite recipes. Until then, here’s a few more pics to feast your eyes on. I hope you find them as inspiring as I do.
