Mod Counter Stools

Trying to find the perfect stool to pull up under your kitchen island can be a challenge. Is it just me, or does it seem like they are hard to come by? I’ll be in the market for a few in the near future, once our kitchen reno is finished, so I have been keeping my eyes peeled. Here are a few that have caught my attention so far:

I love the clean, simple lines of West Elm’s Klismos Counter Stools. They’re weighty enough, which means my kids won’t topple over on them too easily. These are also available in a lipstick red, which would be pretty cool if you can work that into your colour scheme!

I also love the Tolix Marais Counter Stools, available through Design Within Reach. The perforated metal material adds to the industrial feel. Either white or gunmetal grey would be easy to live with. And this one also comes in a punchy colour — plum.

Also available through Design Within Reach are the Tractor Counter Stools. The walnut version is beautiful. I’ve sat on one of these stools before and they’re super comfy. Apparently, given the natural variations of the wood, no two stools are quite the same. The wood used is also sustainably and locally harvested.

If my budget were bigger, I’d go with these suckers. From BDDW, the Square Guest Counter Stools are available at Hollace Cluny and are so handsome. The dark mulled leather seats and backs will age beautifully with time. A classic for sure.

Watch Cameron MacNeil on Online TV for his bar-stool pick, too!
