Morgan Michener’s 2011 Wallpaper Picks

It’s all about trends right now here at House & Home, as our editorial department brainstorms and digs up fabulous must-haves for our January 2011 issue. So many gorgie fabrics and wallpaper samples have been arriving daily. All this exposure to new products and decorating ideas can make your head spin — or tempt you…
But I’m not really a wallpaper gal. I have a lovely Farrow & Ball print hanging in my daughter’s room (which, to my horror, she covered with Spider Man stickers — that I managed to very carefully peel off). I also wallpapered a wall in my dining room in a really subtle metallic Romo paper (so subtle that it hardly makes a statement — until the light hits it, that is). I have forever played with the idea of papering my front hall. But there are really just too many choices, and I’m afraid I’ll see something I like more once the paper is hung — it’s a big commitment!
While in New York last month for the gift shows, I came across Tempaper, a company that makes a self-adhesive, repositionable, temporary wallpaper (above). The line is so new that patterns are limited, but the idea is kind of fun for renters or people who can’t commit to more permanent wallpaper.
I was also pleased to learn that Y&Co here in Toronto (also in Montreal, and they ship) is now carrying Madison & Grow wallpapers (above and below). The patterns are really nice and have a soft quality about them. So pretty…
West Elm has the same Madison & Grow pattern up on their website as a background for their gallery frames.
