Food News: You Can Now Order Beer, Wine & Apps At Starbucks!

Food editor Kristen Eppich shares some exciting news about Starbucks.

House & Home Food Editor Kristen EppichFor some of us – myself included – Starbucks is a home away from home. It’s a place to go when the house is otherwise occupied, to grab coffee with a friend, do some work or take a leisurely flip through the latest issue of House & Home. So when I was in Seattle last week on a press trip to visit the company’s headquarters, I was delighted by their big news: Starbucks is launching a new Evenings Program in Canada on April 5, 2016.

In a nutshell, the Evenings Program starts every day at 2 p.m. and will offer an expanded menu of eight shareable small plates that pair with coffee, tea, wine and local craft beers. That’s right, I said it…beer and wine at Starbucks.

In Seattle, I had a chance to experience the Evenings Program and do a little sampling. The menu includes items like Artichoke and Goat Cheese Flatbread, Bacon Wrapped Dates with Balsamic Glaze, Meatballs with Tomato Basil Sauce and Truffle Macaroni and Cheese (a definite standout). The wine and beer offerings are a combination of Canadian and International products. Of the Canadian selections, included are Fielding Estates Winery’s Riesling, Muskoka Breweries Mad Tom IPA, Detour, Summerweiss, Winterweiss, and Pommies Dry Cider.

The roll-out of the Evenings Program in Canada will be gradual, starting with locations on the Kingsway (3079 Bloor St. W), Forest Hill (446 Spadina Rd) and North Toronto (1740 Avenue Rd.).
