10 Nautical Finds To Get You Excited For Summer

Senior editor Sally Armstrong shares her favorite sea-swept accessories.
Glittering water, bleached sails, ocean breezes — if the warmer weather has you dreaming of setting sail, you’re not alone! But since most of us won’t be spending our days on deck (at least, not yet), here are a few pieces to bring some fresh, sea-worthy style into your home.

Blue and white stripes always conjure up a coastal vibe. This throw pillow cover from Ikea is a classic pick, while this lightweight coverlet — with its lovely nubby texture — makes a perfect extra layer for cooler nights.

Adding some nautical-inspired lighting is another easy way to channel a seaside feel. Both the driftwood table lamp from Urban Barn and the Starboard sconce from CB2 (a modern spin on classic marine sconces) do the trick.

For a subtle nod to the look, try swapping out your hardware. The iron Streamline hook from Anthropologie reminds me of the cleats used to moor boats, while their anchor-shaped knobs would make a whimsical addition to a cottage or kids’ room.

A woven sisal rug, like this one from Dash & Albert, always invokes laid-back coastal living. I also love the brand’s aptly named Catamaran rug, with its crisp blue and white stripes.

If swimming in the ocean is off the table, try adding some sea-inspired fragrance to your morning routine. This soap from Charlotte & Kastel contains mineral-rich sea salt and kelp powder for a fresh, invigorating scent.

Complete the effect by opening up your windows and letting in the warm breeze. This compact rope doorstop from Bed, Bath & Beyond will keep drafts from slamming your doors.
