Take A Look Inside Beauty Guru James Charles’ Luxurious Los Angeles Home
James Charles rarely has a moment to himself. Whether he’s testing out the latest eye shadow palette for his 25+ million subscribers on YouTube, modelling designer outfits on Instagram or performing dance routines with his friends on TikTok, the beauty guru is always on the go. So, when he bought his latest home in 2019, he knew he needed a place to not only work, but relax and unwind, too. James reached out to Ottawa-based design firm LeClair Decor on Instagram to help turn his new house into a home. “We were so thrilled to find that James has an incredibly refined palate and design aesthetic that aligned well with our vision for the home,” says Sacha LeClair, who runs the firm with his wife, Melissa. “We loved being able to go with this modern farmhouse vibe, with touches of relaxed California style for good measure.”

A vignette in the foyer sets the tone for the home’s palette: pops of black, gold and natural materials. The circle mirror is perfect for James to check his appearance before heading out the door.
Just off the entryway, this luxe sitting room leaves a lasting impression, thanks to the dramatic floor-to-ceiling fireplace, towering tree and grand piano.
The living room is one of the most used spaces in the house — and we can see why. A sink-in white couch, sleek arm chairs and a leather chaise lounge offers plenty of seating for movie night.
“Renovating this home has been a really stressful project, but working with LeClair Decor was definitely one of the most rewarding partnerships I’ve ever had,” says James in his YouTube video. “This house would not have looked as beautiful as it does without them.”
Two generous marble islands in the kitchen offer plenty of space for James and his crew. “He has a lot of family and friends, and they all congregate at his house, so having an open and inviting home with a lot of seating space for cooking, eating and entertaining was a priority,” says Sacha.
Sacha and Melissa opted for moody cabinetry (a trend we can’t get enough of), which makes the herringbone-laid floors, marble finishes and warm wood vent hood really pop.
James uses the formal dining room for meetings with his team. A black and white photo he took on his senior trip to South Africa holds pride of place above the console for a personal touch.
A pair of French glass doors opens up to the home office where James enjoys playing video games. Cane chairs and light wood built-in shelves add a breezy, Cali-cool sensibility to the space.
In James’ bedroom, a sleek four-poster bed with piles of monochrome pillows and a textured throw is the ultimate place to cozy up. Exposed wood beams and a woven leather bench inject warmth into the otherwise grayscale space.
The patio off the principal bedroom gets direct sunlight all day long, so James loves to lounge outside and tan. “It was a dream to design this four-season lounge area with its canopied daybeds and comfy sofas,”‘ says Sacha. “The fireplace and lanterns scattered about keep it cozy at night as well, making it a truly inviting space 24/7.”
Wall-to-wall marble and herringbone floors gives the principal bathroom a spa-like vibe. The heated towel rack is an added luxury.
Would a celebrity home be complete without a covetable closet? James displays all of his everyday garments and accessories behind glass doors — he even has a separate closet for his custom red carpet and Coachella outfits.
