Jennifer Koper: How To Create A Cozy Outdoor Space

I’m what you would call an outdoorsy type. Now that we’re on the last leg of summer, I’m dreaming about camping in the fall. It’s so beautiful being outside surrounded by all the autumnal colors and crisp air – but my favorite part is retreating back to my cozy campsite. I’m a firm believer in creating a toasty oasis that incorporates the comforts of home. Here are my top picks to keep warm (and stylish) in the wilderness when the temperature dips.

In addition to an all-weather tent, having a cozy place to hang out, escape the sun or take shelter from wind is high on my list for creating the ultimate outdoor oasis. This vintage-style, cotton canvas, 13″ bell tent from Etsy even comes with a mosquito wall so that you can stay safe from pesky bugs. Set it up with a heap of pillows and blankets.

A good-quality outdoor cushion adds style and comfort to hard chairs and benches. Pop a pillowcase onto it at night and it’s doing double duty. My pick is the iconic Hudson’s Bay multi-stripe that’s both sturdy and stylish.

Hang string lights around the campsite — or a city backyard — to create an enchanting atmosphere. Not only are they pretty, but they’re also practical; they can light the way to different areas of the campsite for easier navigation at night.

This Feuerhand German-made storm lantern has a simple and iconic design that feels functional yet nostalgic.

This Pendleton classic will keep you warm on cool nights around the fire, and it also doubles as an extra sleeping layer. Plus, it’s easy to throw over your shoulder and take on a hike.

A comfortable spot to nap, hang out or cozy up with a good read is essential for colder camping days. This trendy macrame hammock is all of the above.

This lightweight, hardworking GSI kettle is a must for any camper, especially in the cooler months. It’s made of halulite, which conducts heat quickly, withstands dents, scratching and abrasions and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Use this sturdy and colorful cloth to cover the ground when it’s damp. It has reinforced steel grommets on all four corners so you can tie it down, and it’s made from durable waterproof materials to keep you dry.
