Mindy Kaling’s New Office Is A Pastel & Pattern Paradise

Hot off the heels of Netflix’s hit series Never Have I Ever, co-creator Mindy Kaling unveiled her brand new office in the Warner Brothers’ lot in Burbank, California. The actress, producer and comedian collaborated with Serena & Lily to create a chic home base to run her production company, Kaling International. Filled with whimsical wallpaper, pretty pastel accents and rattan furniture, every square inch has a breezy sensibility. “I wanted the space to feel soft and inviting, but also productive with a feminine and creative vibe that didn’t put people to sleep,” she says. “This office is full of beautiful blushes and pastels, and it feels utterly me,” says Mindy. Between the elegant botanical wallpaper, gilt lamps and beach-themed art, this space is a lesson in layering.

Mindy’s rattan desk strikes the perfect balance between pretty and practical. “The glass top is great for all my hot cups of coffee and is durable enough for my toddler to stand on (with supervision, of course),” says The Mindy Project star.

“One thing about me is that I love collectibles and tchotchkes,” says Mindy. “To me, there’s sentimental value in them, whether they’re from my days at The Office, from movies that I’ve been in or from my first TV show that I produced and starred in.”

Quirky pineapple wallpaper envelopes the walls of the reception area. “I love the evergreen color because it makes a statement but also looks good with anything and everything,” she says. A pair of wingback chairs get a modern makeover with bright coral fabric, tying in the cheeky neon sign.

The writers’ room boasts a fully-stocked bar cart — made out of an on-trend woven material — for late night brainstorming sessions. Framed magazine covers line the wall without taking away from the light blue nautical wallpaper.

The spacious living room is truly multifunctional. “I take a daily nap here for 15 to 20 minutes, I entertain my toddler daughter here, and people sit on this sofa when we have meetings,” she says. Plush pillows and a textured throw and rug in pretty pastel hues amp up the cozy factor.

“When you have a space this beautiful, it just makes you never want to leave work,” says Mindy. “I’m really excited to invite people over, and I just feel creative and light here.”
