Hollywood TV Producer Shonda Rhimes Lists $25M Home

You can thank Shonda Rhimes for some of your favorite television shows: Grey’s Anatomy, Bridgerton, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder — the list goes on. The award-winning producer and screenwriter recently put her Hancock Park mansion on the market for a whopping $25 million, the most expensive single-family house in the neighborhood to date. The nearly 12,000-square-foot house was originally designed by architect Elmer Grey in 1923 and restored by Bill Baldwin in 2014 to bring the façade back to its Italianate roots. Plus, White House designer Michael S. Smith gave the interiors a classic Californian touch that pays homage to the home’s history. Scroll down to tour this grand residence.

The elegant foyer sets the tone for the rest of the home — an ornate, vintage-style mirror and curving staircase make a memorable first impression. The marble checkerboard floors are heated for added luxury.

Look up! A honeycomb coffered ceiling in the living room was recreated to match the original home.

Can you spot the Emmy on the bookshelf? This handsome library is also where Shonda keeps her record collection.

Natural light streams into the double-height salon, which is accented with arched French doors.

When Shonda has her A-list friends over, they can comfortably sit around this dining table. The gilded Chinese lanterns create a warm glow above the action.

The timeless chef’s kitchen is kitted out with a 60-inch range, marble countertops and custom floor tiles.

Just off the kitchen, you can find the cozy family room, layered with antiques and a playful mix of patterns.

Watching The Princess Diaries 2 (another Shonda masterpiece) is way more fun in the professional home theater. There’s even a snack bar!

The second floor has five bedrooms with an ensuite — plus, the luxurious principal bedroom, which has a vaulted ceiling, four-poster bed and fireplace.

Would a celebrity home be complete without a covetable walk-in closet?

After a long day on set, there’s no better place to unwind than in the soaker tub or spacious marbled shower.

The exterior is reminiscent of an Italian villa with its arched doorways and charming balconies.

There’s also a a detached three-car garage, Shonda’s private hair and makeup salon and a quaint courtyard.

The secret parterre garden has a fountain and a series of boxwood-lined pathways.

A large swimming pool is perfect for cooling off on a hot California day, while a poolside cabana provides shade.

There’s even a vegetable and herb garden for cooking at home.
