Shops We Love: Les Faiseurs Beautifully Blends Coffee And Ceramics

Today’s best coffee shops no longer serve a single purpose, operating instead as a workplace, hangout and eatery all in one. In Montreal’s Little Italy neighbourhood, new caffeine spot Les Faiseurs (6564 St Laurent Blvd.) is mixing up the format yet again with a space that’s part café, part ceramics boutique and part pottery workshop. Local design firm Catherine Catherine helped realize owner Sarah M. St-Arnaud’s vision for a lively, multifunctional space. A wall of windows, perfect for people watching, separates the boutique and café from the workshop so they feel distinct yet connected. Scroll down to step inside this innovative café and shop the collection!

Boxy shelves showcase work by Quebec ceramicists. Featured artisans have included Aline Bertin and Goye.

The boutique not only showcases Les Faiseurs’ own collection of ceramics, made by Montreal pottery manufacturer Dompierre, but it also features new local artisans four times a year.

Set off by sleek dark blue wood framing, the coffee bar is stocked with scones, muffins and cookies, all made in-house. Not to be overlooked, coffee beans from local microroaster Zab Café make a rich cup of joe.

The baristas serve their steaming java in these handcrafted cups, which double as perfect subjects for your Instagram feed.

With Dompierre’s iconic hand-drawn cross marks and strokes of spring-inspired hues, this ceramic plate will be the star of any table setting.

Upgrade your sink from bland to beautiful with this deep teal dispenser. Plus, it comes filled with soap from local vegan beauty boutique Tonic.
