Recipes From New Orleans Kitchens

Chef Stacey Meyer and journalist Troy Gilbert roved their native New Orleans for restaurant dishes that represent the area’s distinct cuisine — think French, Spanish, Italian, Cajun and Cuban all in one. Try a creamy pea soup and bacon-topped salad from The Bistro at Hotel Maison de Ville, or a seafood gumbo from local chef John Folse. New Orleans Kitchens (2010 Gibbs Smith) is full of local specialties — spicy stews, savoury salads, sweet desserts — that make it easy to enjoy southern cooking up north.
