Recipes From Roberta’s Cookbook

In 2008 Roberta’s opened in a concrete bunker in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn and quickly become a hipster haven. Not only did it have a rooftop garden that marked the beginning of the urban farming movement in New York City, DesignSponge‘s Grace Bonney hosts her podcast from the restaurant’s studio. In their first cookbook, Roberta’s chef Carlo Mirarchi and co-owners Brandon Hoy and Chris Parachini share recipes, photographs, and stories. The quick, simple recipes are made for those looking to experiment with new flavours, so some ingredients aren’t easily found in standard supermarkets — but the book offers sources and substitutions. Try the Baby Sinclair Pizza as an alternative to your standard veggie slice.
